My personal little saying for prioritization is "You can do anything, but you can't do everything". If you can pick your thing you can do it, but trying to do everything is a recipe for disaster.
Funny you mentioned this phrase Maxwell, because I said it to my husband just last week when he was worrying about all the things he needed to do. It's such a reassuring reminder, isn't it? 😊
Although sometimes the queen-of-poorly-multitasking here 🙋♀️ needs to take her own advice. 😆
Good article. I can attest to the fact that once I became a full time caregiver to my bride of 60 years, I am only survive by practicing what you have written.
I start the day by reviewing my todo list and asking what is the one thing that I really need to do. Everything else I can postpone or put off to another time.
Wow Kevin! 60 years! Congratulations. It's lovely to know you're applying this to something as important as your wife's care. Nothing is more important than taking care of our loved ones. ❤️
Hi Naomi, I really like this newsletter being on Substack as it is easier to view on web and highlight elements to send to Readwise. Thanks! I appreciate the excellent content, as always, and frequently amplify it in my own newsletter 🩷
Wonderful post Naomi! I’ve been a user of Todoist for a long time, so it’s great to see you here on Substack! Looking forward to seeing more fantastic posts from you here! :)
The funny thing about "priorities" is that, etymologically, it makes no sense. It comes from Latin meaning "first". Well, there can only be one first item.
Great post, (and welcome to Substack, Naomi/Todoist)! The idea of aiming for more transparency to help manage the urgency bias from higher ups is great. Thank you.
Am I automatically subscribed from the newsletter into Substack? The reason I ask is I don’t see this post in my Substack feed but did get the email via newsletter like normal
Thank you Naomi! I always look forward to these every first of the month! Thanks for the ‘!’ tip. That one was new to me and I immediately researched more and updated some of my recurring tasks. I also enjoyed the P1234 tip of limiting the number of tasks allowed to go into each. That will make me think twice before quickly dropping tasks into those levels for the day so I can get the most important things done. p.s. Fun to be able to comment!
Tracey I'm delighted you got a little Todoist tip that was useful! I really need to start implementing Gonçalo's P1234 method, too. It makes so much sense!
Wow! Loving this and the atmosphere around here Naomi. Feels like an open world, coming from inbox to here.
It feels lovely to reply to you in real time, too, Farhad! Thanks for being here. ❤️
Your first paragraph described me
perfectly. Thanks for an inspiring read. I’m encouraged to be more strategic about what I respond to and when.
I often write these things as a reminder to myself, so I'm glad it was timely for us both Kevin. 😆😊

I truly love seeing Todoist content here on Substack so I can react, comment, and see how others are implementing your productivity advice and tips. 👏
That's music to my ears, Leah! The migration was a p.i.t.a, so we'll be here for a while. 😆
YAY!

How strange! I'm not sure why that would be. Substack is new to me, so I'll be rubbish at troubleshooting this. Let's see if it happens again in July?

Love being to read on Substack now! Also, thanks for the reminder/reality check that we are halfway through 2025 😅
Sorry Betty! 😅 If it's any consolation, there's still half a year left! 🙃
Yes! That's a nice spin 😊
